Sorry about English.

We are planning to visit Stora Sjöfallet next winter (week 13).
We are four guys with own sleds from Southern Finland.

Can anyone tell us places for accommodation in Stora Sjöfallet in reasonable price. Are the some privat rentals in this area?

Is there shop and gas station in Stora Sjöfallet?

Thanks from answers

stora sjöfallet is not so good for snowmobiling since the valley is unusually poor on snow compared to ritsem or kvikkjokk. There is not so much free snow as you might expect. See swedish weather service snow report here...

I would recommend to visit Årrenjarka instead, loads better Cabins and better snowmobiling.

Actually, I would not recommend anyone to visit Stora Sjöfallet if they didn´t have to. Lousy rooms, overpriced, poor common areas (sauna, restaurant) and little snow. The fishing is alright but then you have to travel some distance.

I prefer to visit Årrenjarka, kvikkjokk or ritsem instead.

OK, thanks for quick answer

We have thought also Årrenjarka or Nikkaluokta. In winter 2007 we were in Abisko and now we are planning to come somewhere south of Kebne.

I would appriciate all answers about areas to snowmobile and accommodation facilities.

nikkaloukta is popular but I think they have some off-limit zones around kebne. never been there so I should not make comments.

last year we visited kvikkjokk, very good snowmobiling and a good variety between open arctic terrain and forest runs. We stayed at kvikkjokks fjällstation (private) which was not so good. Kvikkjokk STF is a better choice, we discovered.
nevertheless, great snowmobiling and lots of snow (week 12)

----
year before that we were in årrenjarka, very good accomodation and station service. also great snowmobile.
----
I have been to ritsem and stora sjöfallet my entire life. That entire valley is not so good for snowmobiling....not enough snow
-----
Lots of people go to Kronogård and are happy about that, I will go there this winter

Also I heard that arvidsjaur and akka area is very good, will go there too.

A friend told me the best snowmobiling ever was found in Riksgränsen, want to try that too since I take his word is most often accurate.

I've only been to SS at a trip startin in Årrenjarka.
Riding south from SS can't be that bad - in case there's no off-limit zones around there? That's not really my neighbourhood, so I've got no idea. =)

Adolfsström

Vad är snödjup idag i Adolfsström? Mycke puder?
Bara 1,5 vecka och vi kommer från Finlands södra västkusten.

Vi har GPS-kartor från Mikael, men var kan vi köpa papperkartor om Adolfsström område?
